Stockholm Concert Database
The base of this project is a comprehensive survey of concerts and concert programs in Stockholm during the period 1848 to 1908. The result of this survey is the Stockholm Concert Database.
Our database offers a rich repository of concert-related information, meticulously collected and organized for the years 1848, 1858, 1868, 1878, 1888, 1898, and 1908, reflecting our “sliced-history” approach.

The sources
The primary sources include concert advertisements, concert programs, and other notices from contemporary newspapers. For each year within the study period, we methodically analyzed two newspapers to gather information about music activities, all of which has been recorded in our database. The newspapers examined include: Aftonbladet, Dagens Nyheter, Dagligt Allehanda, and Stockholms Dagblad.
All of the sources have been digitized by the National Library of Sweden and are available at tidningar.se.
