Anne Reese Willén, Phd.
I completed my Ph.D. in Musicology at Uppsala University, focusing on a dissertation the structural transformation of public musical life in Stockholm 1840-1890. I was the PI and researcher on the project Canon and Concert Life at Uppsala University.
Now I work as assistant professor in Musicology at the Department of Cultural Sciences at University of Gothenburg.
My research interests primarily revolve around modern music history, particularly emphasizing social history, the long 19th century and Swedish music history.
I am specially interested in issues related to the structure and transformation of public music life, including institutionalization, professionalization, and the organization of concert life. Additionally, I explore topics such as musical repertoire, canon formation, aesthetic debates, musical idealism, bildung, the interplay between popular, folk, and art music, as well as the movements of touring musicians in Sweden.
I am enthusiastic about exploring methods in digital humanities/musicology and have contributed to research on didactic matters in music history education, including the implementation of object-based learning in teaching.
